Wipe It! a Direct Manipulation Technique for Ubiquitous Information Items
We present an interaction technique called “wiping”, which allows to move information units beyond screen boundaries onto different devices or displays in the environment. The technique uses a physical metaphor and makes the information units behave similar to physical objects. The technique can be used with mice or pens on the corresponding devices, or with bare hands under a camera. We give a...
متن کاملPractical technique for quantitating anaerobic bacteria in tissue specimens.
Quantitative bacteriology has considerable influence on the care and management of surgical wounds. Heretofore, these techniques have been limited to measurements of aerobic bacteria. A technique is reported herein which permits quantitation of obligately anaerobic bacteria in tissue specimens. This technique is easily reproduced in any clinical laboratory and eliminates the need for expensive ...
متن کاملEffect of time and temperature in assessing microbial contamination on flat surfaces.
Experiments were performed to investigate incubation time and temperature effects for Rodac agar contact plates applied to bench top surfaces in industrial clean rooms. For studies of general microbial levels, incubation at 32 C for 43 hr was found suitable for Rodac plates containing 15.5 +/- 0.1 ml of Trypticase Soy Agar.
متن کاملEmbryo Culture Challenge: Microbial Contamination
The success rate of embryo production critically depends on several factors. One of the pivotal factors is a technique used for the whole procedure of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and in vitro embryo culture (IVC) (1, 2). Besides the technique selected for IVF / in vitro embryo production (IVEP), there is an important consideration called IVF/IVEP culture dishes disin...
متن کاملNational monitoring study on microbial contamination of food-contact surfaces in hospital kitchens in Poland.
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE The risk of food-borne infections in hospitalized patients with compromised immune systems is much higher and can also lead to more serious health consequences than among other population groups. Therefore, food hygiene within the hospital setting, should be handled in an appropriate manner. In 2008, there were 732 hospitals in Poland. It was estimated that 7.2 millio...
